How I Monitor Reddit for Leads Automatically
January 18, 2026
I kept telling myself I'd check Reddit every day for potential customers. Entrepreneurs complaining about manual work, people asking for tool recommendations, that kind of thing.
I did it for maybe three days before I forgot.
So I built a workflow to do it instead. Every morning I get an email with posts that match my keywords. Takes me 5 minutes to scan through over coffee. Most days there's nothing interesting, but when there is, I'm the first one there.
What the workflow actually does#
It's pretty simple:
- Runs on a schedule (I do 8am daily)
- Searches Reddit for specific phrases
- Has an AI score each post for relevance
- Emails me the ones worth looking at
The keywords I'm monitoring are things like "automate without code", "zapier expensive", "workflow help" - stuff that signals someone might need what I'm building.
I'm watching r/Entrepreneur, r/SaaS, r/ecommerce, and a few niche ones.
Why I didn't just use keyword alerts#
Reddit doesn't have great native alerts. I tried a few third-party tools but they were either spammy (every mention, no filtering) or expensive for what they do.
The filtering is the key part. Without it, you get 50 posts a day and most of them are garbage. With an AI pass to score relevance, I get maybe 5-10 that are actually worth reading.
Setting it up#
The workflow has 5 nodes:
- Scheduler - triggers every morning
- Search - hits Reddit's API with my keywords
- Prompt - asks the AI to score each post 1-10 for lead potential
- Boolean - only keeps posts scoring 7+
- Email - sends me the digest
Took maybe 15 minutes to set up the first time. I've tweaked the keywords a few times since then.
Does it actually work?#
Honestly, most days the digest is empty or has 1-2 posts. Reddit isn't exactly overflowing with people announcing "I need an automation tool right now."
But over a month, I've found maybe 10-15 conversations I wouldn't have seen otherwise. A few of those turned into real conversations. One turned into a customer.
The main value is consistency - I never forget to check anymore. It just happens.
The template#
If you want to try something similar, you can import this workflow into NodeStorm and swap in your own keywords.
Takes about 5 minutes to customize for your niche.
